No slight to Mark Donahue or Parnelli Jones intended, but the greatest Trans Am car ever built, a bright red Coca-Cola liveried 1969 Boss 302, did NOT race in North America. It raced in Australia and was driven by the legendary Allan Moffat. Of the 151 races Moffat entered with the Mustang, he won 101.
This video of the of that amazing machine being driven at Surfer's Paradise by it's current owner perfectly sums up why I hate the very idea of Formula E, and why internal combustion is so awesome.

I love Trans Am racers, and while this mustang and its record are fantastic, I always had a softie for the Cuda' TA cars.

Speaking of iconic Mustangs that never raced in the US, while not necessarily T/A, Pete Geoghegan's '67 GTA would also be up there, winning three consecutive Australian Touring Car Chanpionships in 1967-68-69 (beating Moffat's Boss 302 and Beechey's Monaro in '69).
Also produced one of the most iconic images in Australian motor racing..

What's the story behind that picture? I've seen it dozens of times while reading about this era in Australian motorsport, but never known there was some significance to it.

Aside from it capturing a moment in motorsport where both car and driver are working at ten-tenths (in this case at the Oran Park flip-flop), its significance, I guess, is up to the beholder.
